Favourite of the media set and art students, Noku is a late-night, private members' club that doubles as a café/restaurant until the early hours. Unlike some other private clubs, Noku is genuinely difficult to access without membership - since there is no doorman and entrance is achieved by magnetic card.
However, if you are hell bent on a late drink and a look at the real art scene you should persevere: hang around outside the (unmarked) front door until you find a friendly member to take you inside. Once upstairs you will enjoy the mellow atmosphere, the comfortable, welcoming interior and a laid-back, interesting crowd - who will often stay and drink until dawn.
Not much dancing happens here, although there is good music and a friendly ambience. Luckily they serve a good selection of simple but excellent hot food to keep the conversation flowing.
